Things ticking me off today

First thing to know about me. I am incredibly impatient. I also have a short fuse when idiots are concerned. So I get aggravated very easily. Whether it's the Big Unit's latest performance (he got lit up like a Phi Kappa Betta frosh, but then the Yanks scored about three TDs off the D-Rays), the Reeps current follies (not that I have much love for the Dems either - I'm pretty much an equal opportunity hater. Just the Radical right is doing more right now.), or other assorted stupidity, it's all fair game.

Second thing : You will see no "hip" terms. If I ever say "don't hate the playa hate the game" or type in some thirteen year old text message fashio - "u r my fav poster 2 4 u r gr8", shoot me. Yesterday. With an elephant gun. I am a geek. I used to play D & D when younger, I used to follow pro-wrestling and even now have passing familiarity with the genre. I spend a lot of time on message boards. I am comfortable with this now.

I'll start off with AFI's list of 100 famous quotations, in which there are some brutally glaring omissions. Yes, much of this may come from the fact that my mental age is about 5, but that's their problem, not mine. I demand to be catered to.

How the hell does the "Masters" scene in Caddyshack fall to #92? How? One of the great comedic geniuses in one of his greatest performances. And the whole "Lama" quote, not on there? I bet these are the same people who would say Babe Ruth is the 92nd best ballplayer in the world or that Pol Pot was a nice guy.

How does Vizzini's "Inconceivable!" not make it? It's better than the Moonstruck one (I mean, what the hell is so special about something that must have been repeated in NooYawk Italian households for years before hand.) or "Stella, Hey, Stella! from Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. That was my last drink order by the way. quote #66 was the last thing I heard at the bar same night.

Mel Brooks got shut out. Which is inconceivable. So did the Monty Python guys. These were comedic icons - I can think of three lines from Blazing Saddles alone. WTF? were they guests at the Neverland ranch and we never knew about it? Did they kill puppies in their spare time? My god, were the *gasp* Republicans?

idiots.

till next time...

N.B - The list is instructive when it shows how we misquote "famous" quotes - like "Play it again sam" or "It's gonna be a bumpy ride" - both wrong

Tom. You are absolutely crazy. But keep it up. I'll be checking in on this regularly to stir the pot.
